We hear the old adage, “time flies” all of the time. It is used in reference to kids growing older, grandbabies getting bigger, years and months passing by way to fast, and, of course, summer. Summer officially comes to an end when school begins, and the 2018-2019 school year is upon us. For some, school has already begun. For others, it is about to start. For me, my student’s big day is Monday!
But, for all the students who are excited about school starting, there is always one who is not. For all of the teachers who are excited about school starting, there may be one who is not. For others, both students and teachers, the excitement was real until the end of the day. They may have been excited when they got there, but, by the end of the school day, the novelty wore off!!! Case in point…

Whether your first day ends on a high note, or a low note, there will be a second day, a third day, a fourth and so on. So, I want to send out prayers to our teachers, students, and the schools. Will you join me?
Dear God,
As countless teachers begin another new school year, grant them an abundance of Your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to love the unlovable, and encourage the unencourageable. Give them grace as they help students who aren’t thriving, courage to say what needs to be said, tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love, and strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen, remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small – yet incredibly important – ways every day. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children. Bless them, Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come.
As countless students begin another new school year, open their hearts and minds to learning. May their struggles with classes be light and their successes many. Send your Spirit upon them and fill them with your wisdom and blessings. I pray that they may devote themselves to their studies. Help them to be honest, kind, and to show consideration for others. Help them to listen to their teachers, coaches, counselors, and others who are a part of their educational team.
And finally, Dear God, keep our schools, and everyone who abides within, safe and protected. Send your angels to be a hedge of protection, a blanket of security. Bless all schools, colleges, and universities, that they may be lively centers for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom. In Jesus Name, Amen!
