I wanted to share a blog post I recently read. As a special education teacher, or a teacher in general, what gets you through the day? We all love our jobs, but will admit it can be challenging at times. We all have different essentials for our classrooms and things that get us through each day. So, teachers, what could you not live without in your classroom? Here is my top ten…
- Jesus. I have to start my day off right, and end it right. When you have no more strength or patience, pray, pray, pray! God ALWAYS comes through!!!
- Laughter and Humor. I have to see the funny side of things. Laughter can get you through the day and those situations when you think, “this really can’t be happening… but it is”!!!
- Caffeine! You name it… coffee, Pepsi, Coke!!!
- Classroom & Behavior Management. Yes! Make sure you have a plan in place and clear expectations. Find something that works for you and your students.
- Velcro. And lots of it!!! I like using these coins.
- Laminator. Materials last so much longer when laminated.
- Computers, Tablets, Internet, and Pinterest. I love me some Pinterest!!!
- Inspirational Quotes. I love inspirational quotes because it reminds me of why I teach; encourages me when I need it, and lifts my spirit when I am at my wits end.
- Sticky Notes. I use a lot of sticky notes!!! As teachers, we have a lot to do and a lot to remember.
- Visuals. Visuals for everything. Essential for our visual learners and non-readers.
- Music. Always has a way of lifting all of our moods!!!
Teachers, what gets you through the day? Does your top ten look like mine? Please share. If you are like me, I am always looking for new ideas!!!
